Preparation & Guidance

We provide structured and individualised preparation for transition to secondary school education. This includes:

  • A planned programme of academic preparation with Study Skills in Years 4-6

  • Interview expectations towards the end of Year 5 with our Headmaster

  • Familiarisation with examination formats with a dedicated week at the end of the summer holidays for Year 5 (mornings only)

  • Individual consultation meetings with parents

  • Host an evening in our theatre with representatives from all local Secondary Schools in attendance. Parents and pupils from Years 3–6 are invited to attend, as well as families from local primary schools

Guidance is tailored to each pupil to ensure that applications are appropriate and aspirational and that destinations are well-matched to pupils’ academic profile, character and co-curricular interests.

Outcomes

Leavers are well-prepared for the academic and pastoral demands of secondary school. Feedback from receiving schools indicates that pupils transition confidently, demonstrate strong learning habits and contribute positively to school life.
