An inspirational teacher and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sam’s passion for The Croft School was formulated when his late father, Mr Tim Thornton, became proprietor and Headmaster in 1981. Following spells teaching in London and Melbourne, Australia, Sam returned to take up post of Head of Science and later, Head of Prep as the school continued to thrive. Sam will fondly be remembered for his wonderful and inspiring Geology Museum, as well as Stationmaster at the ever popular Train Shed.
