Please see Mr Cook's end of Lent term message:

The foundations for children's music making are firmly laid during their time in Pre-Prep. Children learn through the Kodály singing method, and this provides a strong basis for their music education.

All children have one hour of music lessons twice a week with two specialist teachers. All children in Year 2 become members of the Year 2 Choir, an important ensemble which performs to the whole school in our Harvest, Christmas and Easter Services. In recent years it has given performances of several new works composed especially for them.

Year 2 children all learn the Recorder whilst learning to read music notation, and have the option to begin individual lessons on Piano, Violin or 'Cello. Their skills are demonstrated each summer in the Year 2 Summer Concert, where they perform soli, choir songs and recorder pieces. The Concert is always a highlight of the year, and a great way for our youngsters to 'graduate' from Pre-Prep.
