The Croft is the only school in the area that teaches the Kodály singing method.
The famous Hungarian composer instituted a thorough method to enable all children to pitch accurately. Since its introduction at the School in 2004, the results have been remarkable: there are now three choirs which perform at concerts, recitals and services throughout the year.
There is a main School Orchestra and various training ensembles, including Wind Band, String, Brass, Guitar and Percussion Ensembles. An experienced team of fourteen peripatetic teachers cover all the major orchestral instruments, including orchestral percussion. The Piano, Classical Guitar and Singing are also taught. More than three quarters of our Prep pupils currently receive tuition on one or more instruments, including voice.
Professional musicians visit the school regularly to provide workshops for our children, and there are excursions to external workshops and performances. We also have a close association with the Stratford on Avon Music Festival, and host annual concerts as part of the Festival.
One of the highlights of the School's musical year is our Orchestral Afternoon, where we welcome former pupils, friends, family and parents, to join our orchestra for an afternoon’s music making, culminating in a concert.
