Deputy Headmaster

Mr Marcus Cook, centre

My career path from teaching, to Professional Rugby, to Deputy Headmaster at The Croft has been quite an adventure.  Not only has it allowed me to realise two of my lifetime ambitions, but it has also given me the opportunity, as a parent, to see my two young children fulfilling their potential here.

It is my firm belief that sport can provide the educational value that cannot be gained through the core curriculum - sportsmanship, team building, leadership, physical and mental determination. These are the core beliefs that my career in sport has given to me, and it is now my privilege to work with young people to help them gain similar values.

As Head of Geography, and member of the Boys’ Games Department, my contact time with the children spans the Classroom and the Sports Field, which gives me a well-rounded view of each of their strengths and personalities.  The time I spend with them is invaluable when it comes to sorting out any problems, which may arise during the course of their time at the School.

Being a Croft parent and a member of staff, gives me the unique position of being able to experience and appreciate the effect the special atmosphere here has on the children.  They love to learn, they are keen to participate and they have a quiet confidence beyond their years. I feel the same enthusiasm for the School, and always look forward to showing prospective parents around what I consider to be a very happy and caring school.
