The Croft Preparatory School

PSHE

Pre-Prep and Early Years children are encouraged to work with independence and concentration, maintain attention and perseverance, particularly when trying to solve a problem. They also learn to consider the consequences of words and actions and to develop a strong and positive sense of self identity.

In Prep, Personal Social, and Health Education is taught as a discrete subject in timetabled lessons, through other subjects, activities and School events, as well as in the informal setting of the playground. This is where social skills and the art of resolving disputes develop.

Linked to our PSHE teaching is the Peer Support Programme, where selected and specially trained children support others. For example: finding playground friends, locating lost property, suggesting new games, listening.

We find that this system benefits the supporters as well as those receiving support.
