Mrs Margaret Crocombe BA (Hons) PGCE
Mrs Crocombe has a wealth of experience in teaching and managing within Prep Schools. She joined The Croft in 2007, and is both Head of the Prep Department and Head of English. Her passion for Shakespeare has led to stronger links being forged between the School and the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company).

Mrs Linzi Fletcher BEd (Hons)
Mrs Fletcher was appointed Head of Physical Education and Games in 2003. She teaches in both the Pre-Prep and Prep Departments. Mrs Fletcher also looks after the children’s happiness and well being in her rôle as Pastoral Manager. She is a CAF (Common Assessment Framework) Lead Professional. Outside School, she captains a Regional League Netball Team.

Mr Paul Crocombe BEd (Hons)
Mr Crocombe is a Year 3 Class Teacher. He has responsibility for Boys' Pastoral Support and also manages the appointment and training of Year 6 Peer Supporters for the School. Mr Crocombe chairs Parent Discussion Hour, which meets twice termly and to which all parents are warmly invited. He is also a CAF (Common Assessment Framework) Lead Professional.




melissamclean

Miss Melissa Maclean B Mus (Hons) ALCM PGCE
Miss Maclean has taught in both day and boarding preparatory settings. As Head of Maths, she is responsible for the Maths curriculum across the School and preparation of Year 6 pupils for external Secondary School examinations. She feels her love of Maths is closely aligned to her trained expertise in Music. Miss Maclean plays Soprano Sax in the School’s Orchestra, until she masters her Double Bass.




julianshortman

Mr Julian Shortman BEd (Hons)
Mr Julian Shortman is Director of Music and Chorale. Prior to his appointment, he led music at two International Schools in Brunei and Lesotho. Choral singing is his greatest passion, and he runs three of the School’s four choirs, as well as managing teams of expert class music teachers and highly experienced peripatetic music teachers. Mr Shortman has established a community choir for young people aged 11 years and above, based at The Croft.

Mr Sam Thornton MA BA (Hons) PGCE
As Head of Science, Mr Sam Thornton delivers the Science Curriculum across the School. He believes the subject is best learnt through experimentation, thus taking full advantage of the School’s excellent facilities. He is also Co-ordinator for Geology. Mr Thornton plays Tenor Sax in the School’s Orchestra and Wind Band. Mr Thornton is the School's Director of Business Development.
