Art

In Key Stage 1, we build on the strong foundations made in Early Years, by encouraging and enabling children to fully develop their imagination and creativity.  This helps develop the whole child and has a link to all areas of the curriculum.

In Key Stage 1 children are encouraged to draw on their own experiences and ingenuity, to solve the practical problems they may encounter.

Geography

Children are encouraged to embrace the world in which we live by learning about far away places, as well as those closer to home.

History

History in our Pre-Prep Department is taught in a fun and interactive style, and is usually linked to our programme of ‘topics’ for each Term.

ICT

In all our Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms, interactive whiteboards and associated software are used by the teachers and children each day, and play an integral part of teaching and learning in all curriculum subjects.

Music

The foundations for children’s music making are firmly laid during their time in Pre-Prep. Children learn through the Kodály singing method, and this provides a strong basis for their music education.

Pre-Prep children learn about themselves as developing individuals, and as members of their communities.

Physical Education

The school has excellent sporting facilities, and boasts an ample number of specialist teachers and coaches in their respective sports.

In Key Stage 1 children have their own Assembly, with the emphasis on developing their understanding that people have different needs, views, cultures and beliefs.
