On Monday 18 May, as part of our History topic on Victorians, Year 2 went on their summer visit to The Black Country Museum.
The children enjoyed looking at various aspects of Victorian life. They visited the sweet shop, discovering all the unsavoury ways that sweets were coloured, and the washroom, with a demonstration on how to clean and dry their clothes without the use of machines. The children were amazed to discover that the whole family slept in one room and even one bed!
William R found out that the cleanest member of the family was washed first in the bath and Damayanti M thought it was funny that a gazunder had to be used during the night.
