Little Crofters have been digging for wiggly worms in the garden, carefully transporting them to their ‘new homes’ in the classroom wormery. This has led to some interesting observations regarding similarities and differences between worms. Using rulers and unifix blocks, children began to measure and compare the length and size of each worm, discussing the merits of each one.
As well as finding out which worm was the longest, children used magnifying glasses to examine how worms move and what they eat. We were able to observe worms both above and below ground. Children carefully handled and diligently fed our new pets!
