The Great Croft Cook-off

When everyone else is fasting after the Christmas binge, The Croft is feasting. This is because Mrs Edwards has encouraged 82 contestants, from Years 3 to 6, to enter The Great Croft Cook-off. The rules are fairly straightforward, bake the best cake or biscuit and you will be the champion! More precisely, each contestant will be judged on: the appearance, taste, level of skill, organisation and cleanliness. They have one hour only. Shortbread, flapjacks, fairy cakes, chocolate roulade, and Swiss Rolls are some of the popular choices. Sam M is looking forward to cooking, "it’s fun to cook", he says. Anna L says cooking is enjoyable: she likes to make "cookies, cake, anything really." And Issy B wants to learn to cook independently: she cooked pasta with bacon for her whole family – and nothing was left! It sounds delicious, and l hope there are "no soggy bottoms"!
