On Thursday 4 June the Senior Choir, the Junior Saint James’s Singers @ The Croft, The Croft Staff/Parent Choir, Holy Trinity Church Choir, and a professional orchestra came together to create a choral concert! The opening number of the concert was ‘Gloria in Excelsis Deo’ by Vivaldi. This was one of my favourite pieces to perform as a whole choir, as it is full of energy and a very exciting piece to listen to.
Next, a group of children from The Croft sang ‘God be in my Head’, with the Year 5 pupils singing a beautiful harmony. To sing in a big church, almost on your own, and hearing the sound ring around was an amazing experience. At first, I was a bit nervous, but once I got into it, I started really enjoying myself. The people who must have felt amazing when they were singing were the soloists. My personal favourite was ‘Some Enchanted Evening’, sang by Sam Bridges. I loved how warm his voice sounded.
After the interval was the 'Organ Solo Mass' by Mozart in which there were a large number of different soloists. They were all amazing! We finished on a high with ‘Agnus Dei’. The whole organ mass was in very tricky Latin. I think we mastered it in the end though!
The whole evening was a complete success, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I really look forward to another one.
