Pupils, parents and staff are celebrating after the Early Years provision of the School was, yet again, rated Outstanding by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI).
The Croft was inspected over two days during the Summer Term, by a team of two inspectors. Inspectors, Mrs Shelia Boyle and Mrs Ann Oliver, declared the provision to be outstanding in all four areas inspected: outstanding overall effectiveness, outstanding leadership and management, outstanding quality of learning, development and welfare provision, and outstanding outcomes for all children, including those under the age of three.
The Croft’s Early Years provision, which caters for children from two to five years, in the Nursery, Nursery Plus, Pre-Reception and Reception, was acknowledged for its experienced, caring staff, who ensure that all children’s needs are met. As a result, children achieve well, with most children exceeding the Early Learning Goals in all areas of learning by the end of Reception.
The Inspectors noted even the youngest children quickly develop good language and communication skills, commending the specialist teaching in Music and French. They were equally impressed with good use of The Croft’s beautiful 30-acre grounds, including the vegetable plots and sensory garden, promoting the children’s spiritual, social and physical development.
They applauded The Croft’s robust safeguarding, health and well-being policies and procedures, and the promotion of equality and inclusion. Parents were recognised as being highly supportive of the School, with acknowledgement that they are kept well informed by the School, and are increasingly involved in their children’s learning.
The Headmistress, Dr Thompson, commented on behalf of the School, “We are thrilled and delighted with the outcome of the Early Years Inspection and thank our staff wholeheartedly for their continuing professionalism, dedication and hard work. Our gratitude and congratulations extend especially to Mrs Alison Webber for her excellent leadership as Early Years Manager, and to all our parents for their continuing support”.
