The Croft Preparatory School is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Marcus Cook as Headmaster, with immediate effect.
Following a rigorous and intensive two-day interview and selection process, which was designed to thoroughly test and challenge all candidates, Mr Cook was the unanimous choice of the Appointment Committee.
Mr Cook joined The Croft in 2002 as Head of Geography and Boys' Games Teacher. He was subsequently promoted to Director of Studies, and, later, Deputy Headmaster. A former Professional Rugby Player, Mr Cook is a keen sportsman and continues to teach Games as part of his busy schedule.
Mr Cook firmly believes that every child should be educated as an individual, be afforded the opportunity to succeed and to fulfil their potential, whether academically or through Music, Drama, Art or Sport. The Croft's ethos supports the development of self-confidence; empowering pupils to become life-long independent learners and preparing them to be outstanding citizens of the future.
Mr Cook commented My career to date has been an incredible adventure, allowing me to fulfil two ambitions within Sport and Education. I am both delighted and honoured to have been given the opportunity to become Headmaster of such an inspirational, vibrant and forward-thinking school as The Croft.
Mrs Lyndall Thornton, Principal of The Croft, added The Board of Directors was overwhelmed by the exceptional calibre of all the shortlisted candidates. Competition was fierce, but ultimately Mr Cook excelled. We are thrilled to secure his leadership for our School and look forward very much to working with him, in this, The Croft's 80th anniversary year, and for many years to come."
