We aim to ensure that our children experience the joy and excitement of learning Mathematics. In Key Stage 1 we support children in development of their understanding of problem solving, reasoning and numeracy in a broad range of contexts, in which they can explore, enjoy, learn, practise, and discuss what they have discovered and learnt.
The curriculum for Key Stage 1 is matched to the requirements of the National Curriculum Mathematics Programmes of Study, using the Revised Numeracy Strategy Framework, to provide a sound basis for implementation. New Heinemann is used as the core material, alongside a selection of other texts and resources, to provide supporting, complementary and extension activities.
By the Summer Term of Year 1, the children are set for their daily maths lessons, to ensure all pupils are able to work at their individual level and progress at their own speed.
